BA Blacktop Ltd. is currently seeking an Experienced Project Manager to join our team. This position’s primary function is to be the senior on-site manager in charge of major project construction execution. 

The PM coordinates plans and supervises field staff, subcontractors and craft activities for the entire project or projects. They maintain liaison with other departments to assure all required materials, equipment and inspections are in place to support the project schedule. The PM updates and is responsible for the budget and the schedule of the project or projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Proposal Manager with development of responses to RFEOI & RFP
  • Coordinate promotional material with Proposal Department
  • Validation of PM Budget
  • Creation of Sales Order
  • Review cost to date and update budget monthly
  • Conduct Budget review meetings with Construction Manager & Superintendent
  • Update CPSR monthly
  • Conduct Various Meetings (Design, PM, Utility, Environmental, etc)
  • Review and Approve Project Plans
  • Negotiate with Sub-contractors / Suppliers
  • Develop and update Project Schedule
  • Prepare Monthly Progress Reports
  • Oversee Project Quality Management System
  • Prepare Progress Draws
  • Coordinate CCO’s with CM and Estimator
  • Approve invoices for integration
  • Assist with development of employees for future advancement
  • Confirm resources are available for project
  • Attend Division Meetings

Job Description

The position requires the HSE Advisor (Health Safety & Environment) to have experience in the construction industry and preferably in road and bridge construction.  The successful applicant will be a self-motivated individual with the desire and ability to ensure compliance with all the HSE requirements applicable to the business while maintaining a professional demeanor on the worksite.


Duties & Essential Job Functions

The successful candidate’s duties and responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Review, implement, maintain, and improve the Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems, including maintenance of the ISO45001:2018 (Health and Safety), ISO14001:2015 (Environment), ISO9001:2015 (Business Management) and COR certification.
  • Support and provide guidance to worker representatives, supervisors, managers and external agencies.
  • Train and educate employees in company safe work practices and procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, site orientations and weekly safety meetings.
  • Coordinate and conduct incident investigations, including root cause analysis and required reports.
  • Develop site specific safety plans including safety orientations, safe work procedures and programs.
  • Coordinate and administer the return/stay at work program for injured workers.
  • Maintain ongoing compliance with current OH&S legislation and codes of practice.
  • Liaise with a range of functional groups and individuals both internal and external to the company.
  • Schedule & conduct company JOSH committee meetings.
  • Compile metrics for reporting and completed data analysis.
  • Develop presentations and present at departmental meetings.
  • Maintain proper recordkeeping and confidentiality practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • OHS Diploma or equivalent
  • Current CSO certification
  • 5+ years of experience with implementing Health & Safety programs in the construction industry or relevant field
  • Ability to maintain independent thought and objective pursuit of facts while safeguarding the confidentiality of reports and investigation details as needed.
  • Excellent writing and computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and facilitator skills
  • High level of physical fitness and ability to work well under pressure

The successful candidate will be actively involved in the Company Safety Program. The candidate will also be responsible for the administration and scheduling of day to day operations, all aspects of quality control, while working cooperatively with other Superintendents. Further, the candidate will be responsible for the financial results of the project, which includes keeping the project budget up to date.

Requirements:

Successful candidates will have experience on project valued at $5M or higher.

Minimum 5 years’ Experience.

Applicants must have experience as a Foreman in Road Construction with proficient knowledge in the discipline of Asphalt Paving.

The candidate will possess strong leadership skills, oral and written communication skills and day to day organizational skills.

The successful candidate will be an active leader in the Company Health & Safety Program, and will be responsible for scheduling day to day operations, and all aspects of quality control, while working cooperatively with crew and Superintendents. Further, the candidate will be responsible to monitor production results, material consumption and efficiency of the jobs.

Essential Qualifications

  • A strong and growing knowledge of paving/construction activities and processes;
  • Have a strong and growing knowledge of specifications (MoTI, MMCD, local government specifications);
  • Ability to organize all field aspects needed on site to begin and complete a job;
  • General computer skills;
  • Ability to measure and calculate length, surfaces, volumes and mix quantities;
  • Have a working knowledge of all the equipment on site;
  • Have a very good knowledge of the paver sensors system;

Eurovia BC is currently seeking a flexible, self-motivated, and dedicated individual to join our Fraser Valley Area operations team as a part-time Parts Runner/Yard Maintenance person.

The purpose of this role is to collect and deliver supplies, equipment and/or parts orders from various offices, plant locations and jobsites. Return supplies, equipment and/or parts orders and/or rentals to various businesses.
Workload varies based on daily requirements. We try to schedule the work so that when the candidate works, they can work a full day. Candidate would generally work 2 to 4 days a week based on requirements (20 - 40 hrs/week).

The successful candidate will enjoy driving and running errands, possess a strong work ethic, oral and written communication skills and strong day to day organization skills.

Key Tasks and Accountabilities - Include but are not limited to:

  • Program, tow and deliver message boards, arrow boards and light towers to site as required.
  • Maintain the batteries (water levels) and report any notable issues of boards to shop.
  • Make sure the message boards in yard are fully charged and ready to go out.
  • Swap out boards when batteries deplete on site and replace with fully charged boards from yard.
  • Remove boards from site and bring back to the Port Kells yard when site no longer needs board.
  • Pick up totes from Delta or North Van and take to McAsphalt for re-filling (Two-day process).
  • Assist all three asphalt plants in picking up any necessary parts.
  • Pick up store supplies from various vendors as required.
  • Drop off barrels, delineators or signs to site as requested or pick up such items from site.
  • Empty recycle bins (spray paint cans) in Port Kells Yard and take to recycling depot.
  • Take any miscellaneous office recycling ie. computer monitors, old ink cartridges and Batteries to recycling as required.
  • Help organize and maintain the signs in the yard.
  • Maintain the Port Kells yard of any debris or garbage.
  • Pick up cheques from clients
  • Other duties as assigned by Managers

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experienced Driver
  • Experience Towing small trailers
  • Good Driving Record/Safe Driver
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Physically able to lift 30lb weight

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Road Construction Industry
