Sea to Sky Highway
BA Blacktop is pleased to be a part of the Sea-to-Sky Highway Improvement Project in a subcontract arrangement with PKS and S2S Transportation Group. The Sea to Sky highway winds its way through the spectacular Coast Mountains, linking communities from West Vancouver to Whistler. BA Blacktop has established a new asphalt plant in Squamish for this $25M grade and pave project and will provide paving and quality management services for the entire 100 km highway with 80 kilometers of new passing lanes. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2009.
South
Surrey Interchange Project, Highway 99⁄32 Avenue

This project included a new underpass of Highway 99 at 32 Avenue Diversion in South Surrey. This design/build/develop process included the development of 20 acres adjacent to the site, the construction of community drainage and water servicing for the area as well as relocating the existing Park and Ride to a new facility complete with a transit exchange.
Highway 1/200 St. Interchange Project Design / Build ⁄ Develop
BC Transportation Financing Authority
Another groundbreaking project for the Province saw the
award of this contract to enhance the highway area near Langley. This
ongoing project presents complex traffic engineering issues complete with
4 intersections, 2 of which join two major urban arterial roads at four–legged
intersections, one is a "T" intersection and the fourth is at
a unique single point interchange over Highway 1.
Highway
1, High Occupancy Vehicle Lanes

This project includes the installation
of "High Occupancy Vehicle" (HOV) lanes along a 16.5 km section of the
Trans Canada Hwy from Grandview to Cape Horn. Pavement widening, drainage,
electrical, median barrier walls, and the structural widening and seismic
upgrade of five bridges were included in this project through Burnaby
and Coquitlam.
Barnett People Moving Project

This Lower Mainland project consisted of four contracts.
Works included reconstructing and widening the existing 2 lane Barnet
Highway to a 4 lane divided highway complete with High Occupancy Vehicle
Lanes, reinforced earth retaining walls, street lighting, traffic signals,
drainage, major excavation and embankment fills, concrete curb & gutter
and sidewalks, asphalt pavement and a rail overpass.
Dollarton
Highway
BA Blacktop totally reconstructed 9 km of this North Shore highway from the Second Narrows Bridge to scenic Deep Cove. The work included curb & gutter, sidewalks, paving, decorative lighting and drainage.
Upper Levels Hwy.
B A Blacktop and Safety Grid Pavements were the successful bidders on
the 26.8 lane Kms. of mill and pave on the Upper Levels Section of Hwy
# 1 & Hwy. 99.
This was the first E.P.S. job that MoT had called on the North Shore
and B A was able to complete the project ahead of schedule while exceeding
a high standard of quality control, which earned them 71% of the total
available bonus dollars.
