Eurovia Canada Major Projects Group is currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated and dedicated Project Manager for Methods and Project Design to join our Major Projects Group in Western Canada (Vancouver). Eurovia Canada is the Parent Company of Eurovia BC/BA Blacktop (BC), Carmacks Enterprise (Alberta) and Eurovia Quebec.

The roles and responsibilities of Project Manager, Methods and Project Design include, but are not limited to:

  • Multidisciplinary team management (topographer, designer)
  • Geometric design analysis, and optimization for highways and bridges
  • Traffic management design, analysis and optimization
  • Manage surveying, topography, bathymetry (robotic stations, GPS)
  • Review hydraulic calculations, reinforced concrete design, and modelling volumes
  • Provide design for 2D and 3D roadworks and structures
  • Draft project specifications, provide notation of calculations and technical briefs
  • Create techinical files and drawings for every stage of the project
  • Generate tasks and project schedules
  • Calculate cost, optimization, prepare quotations, negotiate offers
  • Check compliance, provide project oversight from beginning to end
  • Optimize methods (earthworks, roadway, rockfills, utilities and other civil engineering work)

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Good understanding of road/bridge construction
  • Minimum of 5 years' design experience, including cooperative education and work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferable in engineering) or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with computer aided design software and ability to learn new software
  • Excellent tool build and design experience
  • Strong communication skills

BA Blacktop Ltd. is currently seeking a team oriented, self-motivated and dedicated individual to join our operations team as a Superintendent.

 

Applicants must have substantial experience in Road Construction with extensive knowledge in excavation, utilities installation, grading and paving aspects of the business. The candidate will also possess superior leadership skills, demonstrate solid oral and written communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office and scheduling software.

The successful candidate will be actively involved in the Company Safety Program. The candidate will also be responsible for the administration and scheduling of day to day operations, all aspects of quality control, while working cooperatively with other Superintendents. Further, the candidate will be responsible for the financial results of the project, which includes keeping the project budget up to date.

 

Successful candidates will have experience on project valued at $5M or higher.

Minimum 5 years’ Experience.

To procure jobs / projects as assigned or directed by Bid Manager by meeting with customer, conducting site review, reviewing all relevant available information, preparing quantities, preparing estimate and quote and executing contract negotiations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assigned task by Sales Manager
  • Performs site visit
  • Gathers and reviews all relevant information available – drawings, Geotechnical Reports
  • Prepares a well-organized bid, following proper construction sequence
  • Meeting anticipated bid closing dates
  • Aware of current market conditions to obtain maximum mark-up and winning the contract
  • Negotiates contract with customers and execute contract
  • Liaison between Superintendent and Client Rep.
  • Monitor work in progress and take care of administrative duties, such as change orders and invoicing

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all material (asphalt, concrete and granular) technical related issues throughout the group of companies
  • Work closely with Technical Manager to achieve departmental goals
  • Provide support to the Technical Manager on day-to-day departmental needs
  • Discuss all technical requests received with the Technical Manager, and assist with determining assignments and schedule
  • Develop and train Technical Department staff members as required
  • Supervise the internal quality control program
  • Review and populate all materials testing reports for projects company wide
  • Supervise all third party testing firms that provide QC services
  • Write and implement quality control and management plans
  • Promote Eurovia products and processes to our clients and stakeholders
  • Review all tenders from a quality and technical aspect
  • Facilitate the procurement of third party testing company quotes for all submitted tenders

We are currently looking for a Materials Testing Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will spend their time in the field on construction job-sites, and in the materials laboratory completing construction materials tests.

Responsibilities

  • Execute on-site concrete spot tests which includes casting cylinders, slump test, air content tests and reporting
  • Execute on-site soil sampling, asphalt hot-mix sampling
  • Perform  in-lab work, such as testing cylinders, wash-sieve analysis, Proctor test etc.
  • Interact with on-site clients (contractors) to provide excellent service and a quick response to their testing needs.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a materials testing technician in the asphalt and soils industry
  • Knowledge of asphalt technology and production of asphalt including Superpave and Marshall processes
  • Knowledge of Pavement Quality Indicators (PQI’s) used for measuring asphalt compaction
  • Knowledge of asphalt coring equipment and procedures
  • Knowledge of asphalt plants and the calibration process from a QC perspective
  • Knowledge of measuring smoothness of asphalt pavements using an ICC-MDR-4084 profilograph as well as calibration of the unit
  • Knowledge of measuring application rate during asphalt laydown
  • Knowledge of asphalt warm mix technology and foamed asphalt base stabilization

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of excel, word and AutoCAD software
  • Comfortable in the field on construction project sites
  • Strong people skills, and the ability to work with a wide variety of staff and clients
  • Strong communication skills (verbally/writing) in English
  • Strong general mathematical skills

Desirable Qualifcations

  • AScT designation is an asset
